As a part of its commitment to fair and transparent government, the Queensland Government consulted with stakeholders about a proposal to declare a part-day public holiday on Christmas Eve (24 December) from 6pm to 12 midnight.
As part of that process, the Queensland Government engaged with stakeholders including employer groups; individual employers; industrial organisations and workers; relevant peak bodies; academic researchers and the community, and released a Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement to consider the benefits and costs of the part-day public holiday, and seek stakeholder comment.
Written submissions on this proposal and the Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement closed on Monday 2 September 2019.
