Panel of experts

The panel will assess applications in accordance with the Terms of reference and will provide recommendations to the Minister for Industrial Relations for the allocation of funding.

Peter Garske

Peter Garske is the Former Director of the Queensland Transport and Logistics Council and a Deputy Chairman of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. Peter was previously the Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Trucking Association for more than 20 years.

Peter Garske was appointed as a life member of the Industrial Relations Society of Queensland in December 2016 for services to the Society and to the industrial relations in Queensland and nationally.

Linda Lavarch

Linda Lavarch was appointed Queensland’s first female Attorney-General in 2005. She represented the seat of Kurwongbah in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1997 to 2009.

Linda is a lawyer by profession and has broad experience in developing and advising on public policy in Australia. More recently, Linda co-authored the independent review of the Queensland's Industrial Relations Act 2016 (IR Act), with Mr John Thompson, retired Queensland Industrial Relations Commissioner.

Linda Lavarch has served as Chair of the National Not-for-profit Sector Reform Council (2011-2013); Director of Member and Specialist Services with the Queensland Nurses and Midwives’ Union (QNMU); and Advisory Board member with the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies (ACPNS) at Queensland University of Technology. Linda currently holds Board and Committee positions including Chair of the Board of Directors of Screen Queensland, Director of Volunteering Queensland, and with the QUT Pathway to Politics Program.

A J (Tony) James

Tony James is a career public service officer with 41 years’ experience in labour relations agencies in Queensland. He is currently the Assistant Director-General, Office of Industrial Relations. His substantive role is as Executive Director, Industrial Relations. He has also served as Executive Director, Electrical Safety Office, Senior Director, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland and Director, Corporate services.
